About TeXLive development builds
================================

This directory contains development builds of TeXLive sources. Every
bin-r${SVNREV} directory contains log files; you can find there all
you need to know about building environment and settings for each
binary set.

The binaries will be regularly updated to track changes in TeXLive
source tree.

If I had to patch the sources, there is r${SVNREV}.patch.txt file.
Please note that these patches are usually quick/ugly hacks to produce
working binaries and that many of them are not universal and
acceptable solutions. Take them just as an idea about what had to be
done.


TeXLive-2009 binaries for FreeBSD
=================================

If you need stable TeXLive-2009 binaries for FreeBSD, please try the
following locations:

Testing xindy-new for TeXLive-2010
==================================

TL2010 will ship xindy-2.4 which is currently in pre2 phase, available
in TL SVN tree as "xindy-new".

- From r16902 build, TeXLive FreeBSD binaries include xindy-2.4-pre2
binaries/scripts and appropriate texmf subtree, for testing purposes.
Since it is still not a part of building infrastructure, xindy-new is
built independently; log files provide all details on that process.

Please give it a try and report any bug/problem to TL mailing lists.

If you want to test xindy-new on existing TL2009 install, do the
following:

1) Install development binaries as usual.

2) Preserve a copy of TL2009 xindy texmf subtree:

   tar -v -c -f xindy-TL2009-texmf.tar texmf/doc/man/man1/*xindy* \
      texmf/doc/xindy/ texmf/scripts/xindy/ texmf/xindy/

3) Remove all traces of TL2009 xindy:

   rm -rf texmf/doc/man/man1/*xindy* texmf/doc/xindy/ \
      texmf/scripts/xindy/ texmf/xindy/

4) Download and extract xindy-new texmf files provided on this
   site (in bin-r${SVNREV}/ directories):

   xzdec xindy-new-texmf-r${SVNREV}.tar.xz | tar -x -v -f -
